Interesting article on one of the Scattered Spider social engineers. He's teenage, not especially technical, motivated largely by prestige in his community (even by simply being in this community), and recruited especially for his ability to dupe people over the phone. You'll have to forgive the long-form, paid-by-the-word American journalism, but if you can skim through that there are some really interesting insights about the persona, the way that persona graduated in usefulness from SIM swapping to Initial Access (opening the door to ransomware), the community that are causing so much damage this year, and the lingering alure of that group to those who are involved, even while in prison.
