Focusing on this capability is crucial for unlocking AI's true transformative potential.

Through a purely GTM lens, having run AI-led GTM initiatives, I think the real issue isn’t always about organisational capability. It’s more about commercial alignment.

A lot of AI pilots don’t fail because the tech can’t scale or the data isn’t centralised, although these do obviously present serious challenges too. They fail because there’s no clear value hypothesis, no plan for customer traction, and no real path to measurable revenue impact. Everyone talks about scaling across the enterprise, but I honestly believe, smaller high-ROI use cases often deliver more value for GTM teams.

Fragmentation isn’t always a problem either. Sometimes it just means different teams are following different market signals. What’s usually missing isn’t cohesion, it’s a feedback loop that ties GTM insights to what product and AI teams are building.

Adopting AI isn’t just a tech or ops problem. It’s a GTM execution problem. If pilots don’t directly solve pain in sales, marketing, or CX, and back it up with real pipeline metrics, then talk of “scaling” doesn’t mean much.
